Siloam Springs, ARK. — Siloam Flowers & Gifts, 28 Springs Restaurant, Ron Drake, Main Street Siloam Springs, and Meredith Bergstrom all claimed the title in at least one category in the 2013 Main Street Arkansas Awards on January 29th, 2014.
 
Main Street Arkansas is a program of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program and is in association with the National Main Street Center. It exists to encourage and implement downtown revitalization through resource distribution, grant allocation, and awards/incentives.
 
Each year, Main Street Arkansas recognizes twenty Main Street entities for a variety of accomplishments. In 2013, Siloam Springs received six of those twenty awards. Main Street Siloam Springs nominated over a dozen downtown entities for different awards and is pleased to have so many competitive and qualified candidates for this prestigious statewide recognition. These awards truly distinguish Siloam Springs as a growing and dynamic community.
 
 
Meredith Bergstrom received the “Outstanding Executive Director” award for her exemplary and tireless contributions as Executive Director of Main Street Siloam Springs. This award is peer-based; only other Main Street Executive Directors in the state of Arkansas may nominate the award recipient.
 
28 Springs Restaurant received “Best Total Building Renovation” award for their extensive redesign and restoration of the former Crain Motor Building at 100 East University Street. This award acknowledges the thoughtful and thorough interior and exterior alterations that make the space so historically significant and communally functional.
 
Siloam Flowers & Gifts received “Best Window Display” award for their beautiful and seasonal storefront presence. In granting this award, deep consideration was given to the shop’s ability to communicate to the outside what is inside the store, as well as creativity, attractiveness, and visibility.
 
Ron Drake of Drake Concepts was recognized as “Main Street Hero” for his renovation and restoration work on historic buildings in downtown Siloam Springs and in recognition of his extensive contributions and enhancements to the downtown.
 
Main Street Siloam Springs received the “Spirit of Main Street” award as an exemplary Main Street community that has demonstrated the importance of a downtown through innovation, community support, and commitment to economic development within the context of historic preservation.
 
Main Street Siloam Springs also received the “Best Web Presence/Use of Social Media” award for their use of Facebook, e-newsletters, and websites. Each of these awards demonstrates the vitality and vibrancy of the Siloam Springs community and further proves that in Siloam Springs, there truly is a lot to love.
