The Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce announces the hiring of Gary Comiskey for the position of Director of Economic Development and Membership, effective Oct. 1, 2011. Comiskey will be responsible for local and regional economic development activities, including Business Retention and Expansion surveys, site selection contacts, responses to industrial prospect requests for proposals, and coordination with the regional economic development initiative - a component of the Northwest Arkansas Council's Strategic Plan.

He will also be responsible for membership sales and retention for the Chamber, with focus on Return on Investment and reducing attrition. His job duties will result in close coordination with the Membership, Economic Development, and Tourism Committees of the Chamber.  Chamber President Wayne Mays said "Gary brings a lot of business experience and a love for this community to the job; he is committed to helping build a community in which his family can thrive. He is active in youth baseball, his church, our public schools, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes."

Comiskey is a resident of Siloam Springs, attended John Brown University and the University of New Mexico, and he has worked for several area businesses in business development and project management. His wife, Karen, is a second grade teacher at Allen Elementary, and they have two sons: Austin, 16, and Kyle, 13.

Gary joins President/CEO Wayne Mays; Director of Public Relations, Special Events and IT Patti Eiland and Director of Operations Karen Johnston.
