Board Members Attend Arkansas Municipal League 2019 Winter Conference

Board members at the 2019 AML Conference

Siloam Springs Board members attended the Arkansas Municipal League 2019 Winter Conference, held Jan. 16-18 in downtown Little Rock. This marks the first Arkansas Municipal League training for the newly elected members.

The 2019 Conference was well attended, drawing over 1,200 participants. Approximately twenty percent of the conferees were newly elected, first-time officeholders. It marked a great start to the League’s 85th year of serving the cities and towns of Arkansas.

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson addressed municipal leaders as part of the Volunteer Community of the Year Awards luncheon. With the 92nd General Assembly of the Arkansas Legislature now underway, he encouraged the League and its members to work closely with legislators and with the governor’s office as we advocate for our legislative’s priorities.

Conference general sessions covered the legislative priorities for municipalities, attracting business and building a strong workforce, cultivating respect and civility in the municipal workplace, and more topics of importance to cities and towns.

The conference also included five core hours and three continuing education hours of the League’s voluntary certified municipal official education program.

The Arkansas Municipal League is a service and advocacy organization for the municipalities of Arkansas. The League offers its programs and services to the 500 cities and towns in Arkansas and was created in 1934 to assist cities with information and representation in the public affairs of our state and nation.
