Siloam Springs Hospital Auxiliary, Inc., recently donated $9,000 to preserve the Siloam Springs Regional Hospital's legacy and fund the Legacy Wall.

Scheduled to be installed around April 25, the Legacy Wall will replicate plaques from the former Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital (SSMH), include historical images of the hospital throughout the years and will display all of the names and donors that created the Living Tree in the lobby of SSMH.

ssrhA special unveiling will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 25 by the Siloam Springs Regional Hospital classroom at 603 N. Progress Ave. in Siloam Springs. Everyone is invited to attend and hear remarks from Siloam Springs Regional Hospital Chief Executive Officer Kevin Clement; Siloam Springs Hospital Auxiliary, Inc., President Sharon Sly; and Siloam Springs Hospital Auxiliary, Inc., Past-president and Legacy Wall Committee Chairperson Diane Winder. Refreshments will follow.

"When we moved from SSMH to our new location, we knew we wanted to honor our history in some way," Clement said. "Because of the generous donation the Auxiliary has presented us with, we are able to do that in an extraordinary way."

The Legacy Wall is a clear, plexiglass hanging display located in the administrative hallway on the way to the hospital's cafeteria so the public may view it and take a moment to learn about the hospital's past.

"It's a pleasure for us to be able to help the hospital in this way," Sly said. "For years the Auxiliary had been saving money to contribute to the new hospital. Now that it has come to fruition, we are very excited to find a way to not only assist the hospital, but also create a special place where all of the people who helped SSMH can be recognized and remembered."SSRH LOGO

"The Legacy Wall Committee has been working on this project well before Siloam Springs Regional Hospital even had an opening date," Winder said. "One of the things we wanted to focus on was highlighting the hospital's past, so no one would lose sight of where we came from once we left the Jefferson Street location. Now that we're in the new facility and the Memorial Hospital site is gone, it's really a special way to look back on our legacy and the people who got us here."
