The Siloam Springs School Board hired Tim Stewart as the High School Boys Basketball Coach and as a High School P.E. Teacher on Thursday, April 14, 2011 during the regular monthly school board meeting.
The Basketball Selection committee of Jody Wiggins, Charlie Abernathy, Jason Jones, Brian Nitz, Debbie Sharp and Kerwin Dees recommended Tim Stewart to the school board to replace the duties held previously by Johnny Taylor, who resigned last month.
Tim Stewart has 16 years of teaching and coaching experience that includes two years of past coaching and teaching experience in Siloam Springs. In the past, Coach Stewart was the SSHS head golf coach, 9th boys’ basketball coach, assistant basketball coach, and high school Biology teacher at Siloam Springs for two years while serving with Brian Daugherty and Jason McMahan during the 2006 and 2007 school years. In 2006, he was also a finalist for the head coaching job at SSHS when Jason McMahan was hired.
Tim Stewart is currently the head boys’ basketball coach at Claremore High School, a 6A large class high school in Claremore, Oklahoma. The past two years at Claremore, it has been reported that Coach Stewart has been named an Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association Regional Basketball Coach of the Year for 2010 as well as the 2010 Tulsa World All Metro Boys’ Basketball Coach of the Year. He was also the Metro Lakes Conference Coach of the Year both in 2010 and again this year in 2011. Tim Stewart was also selected as a 2010 OSSAA East All-Star Basketball Coach in 2010. The past two years, Coach Stewart led the Claremore Zebras to an impressive 42 and 8 record with back to back Metro Lakes Conference Championships and a State Tournament Semi-final finish in 2010.
Coach Stewart will meet with Panther Basketball Parents and Players on Monday night, April 18th, in the Panther Arena at 6:00 p.m. He will also see the Varsity team today during 4th period.
