SPRINGDALE, AR - The Kansas City Royals announced two transactions on Friday affecting the Naturals roster. The related details are as follows:

Left-hander Mike Montgomery has been placed on the disabled list with a forearm strain. The 20-year old lefty from Mesa, AZ has already spent time on the disabled list with the same injury which was aggravated following his start this past Tuesday. The top overall prospect in the Kansas City Royals' organization according to Baseball America, Montgomery has a 3-1 record and a 2.79 ERA in five starts since joining the Naturals in late April.

Left-hander Everett Teaford has returned to the Naturals from Triple-A Omaha and will make the start Sunday in Montgomery's place. The 26-year old Alpharetta, GA resident was 6-2 with a 4.28 ERA with the Naturals thus far in 2010, splitting time between the rotation and the bullpen. He was particularly effective as a reliever, posting a 4-0 record and a 2.95 ERA in 21 1/3 innings out of the pen.

The Royals' 12th round selection in the 2006 draft, Teaford was promoted to Omaha last week and made one start for the O-Royals in Albuquerque on Monday night. He allowed seven runs in 4 2/3 innings, fanning four and issuing one walk.

After the move, the Naturals' roster remains at the Texas League limit of 24 active players.

The Naturals also were informed by Texas League President Tom Kayser on Friday that right-handed reliever Louis Coleman has been added to the North Division All-Star team. The 24-year old Coleman, the Royals' fifth-round selection in last year's draft out of LSU, has been skipper Brian Poldberg's most trusted late-inning relief options. He's posted a 2-1 record and a 2.40 ERA in 19 appearances, including one start.

Coleman replaces Arkansas Travelers right-hander Tim Kiely on the roster. Kiely had been named to the roster as an injury replacement for Montgomery, but then was promoted to Triple-A on Thursday.

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and play at state of the art Arvest Ballpark, located in Springdale. You can purchase season tickets and group outings with the Naturals by calling (479) 927-4900.
