In October of this year Genesis House will be celebrate its 5th year of opening its doors to the homeless of the Siloam Springs area. Since our opening, 11,800 contacts have been made with homeless and near-homeless families and individuals. For the past four and a half years we have been here for the homeless as a day shelter. We offer up our home for them to shower, wash clothes, telephone services, meals, and counseling and referral services. Over time, we have added to that programming which includes, a bicycle loan program, medical assessments from a registered nurse through St. Francis Clinic, and budget counseling. Emergency shelter is available through a voucher program with our local motels.
We are proud to announce that the Board of Directors has decided that it is now time for Genesis House to build a shelter. The ability to house the homeless for longer periods of time on site will allow us to assist them better in finding more permanent housing. Through a $12,000.00 grant from Community Care we have hired iBossWell to lead us through a strategic planning agenda over the next six months. We are looking forward to this process and the possible new facility for the homeless in Siloam Springs.

The Rev. Gary C. Baird, an ordained minister, a deacon in the Episcopal Church, has been with Genesis House since 2003, first as a board member and then in October of 2006 as its director.
Gary has been active in Siloam Springs first as a founding board member of The Manna Center, a food pantry, and on the founding board of Boys and Girls Club. Gary states that as a deacon in his church, Genesis House offers the perfect setting for the servant ministry that he has pledged to do and to lead others in their ministry as well.
