4-2-12 Siloam Springs, ARK. — Main Street Siloam Springs is pleased to announce the 13th season of the Siloam Springs Farmers Market, which will open on Saturday, April 14th in City Park, in the heart of downtown. This year, the market will participate in a regional farmers market grant that will "double the dollars" of money spent by EBT/SNAP customers.
2011 was the first year that customers could utilize their SNAP benefits at the Siloam Springs Farmers Market, and the new program was received with enthusiasm. This year, the Double Dollars program will increase the amount of local, nutritious food that low-income families with SNAP benefits can access.
The Siloam Springs Farmers Market will again participate in two other community food-access programs, including the WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Assistance Program, both of which provide vouchers to purchase farmers market produce.
The market will meet every Tuesday and Saturday from 8am to 1pm in City Park.
Products available will include seasonal produce, plants, handcrafts, baked goods, honey, jams, jellies, granola, and eggs.
KID'S DAY AT FARMER'S MARKET Saturday, June 9th 10am-12:30pm
To date, 12 vendors have registered for the market season, and the organization expects as many as 30 total vendors to register this year. Farmers have indicated that they will open the market with more produce than is typically expected this early in the season, due to an early spring. Strawberries, spring greens, asparagus and radishes will grace the market along with the expected holdovers from winter: potatoes, turnips and garlic, to name a few.

The Siloam Springs Farmers Market, a program of Main Street Siloam Springs, purposes to enliven the community of Siloam Springs by connecting consumers directly to quality local produce and handcrafts, and to contribute to downtown development through creating an inviting atmosphere for visitors.
