SSHS Band Finalizing Plans For Tournament Of Roses Parade

The Siloam Springs High School Band is completing plans and packing for departure to the 2012 Tournament of Roses Parade to be held on January 2nd, 2012.

This week the students will be packing a trailer provided by Wal-Mart Transportation with instruments and supplies for the Parade and other activities while the students are in California.

Wal-Mart Transportation has agreed to provide the truck, driver and all expenses to get the equipment to California and back for the Siloam Springs Band Students. We are very thankful for this donation by Wal-Mart Transportation and are very pleased with the extensive graphics work they have provided on the trailer to customize it for the Band. The trailer has been on display at the Siloam Springs Wal-Mart for the last 5 days and we have received many positive comments on the look of the trailer.

Fundraising is almost complete with only $23,424 , or less than 6% of the cost for the trip remaining to be raised. With the generous donations of local businesses, individuals and the Siloam Springs School District, fundraising has gone well. We are very thankful for all donations received. The community has shown great support for the students as they prepare to travel to the 2012 Tournament of Roses Parade.

The students will have their final practice on Monday December 19th at 8:30 am before Christmas break and will depart on December 27th for an unforgettable journey filled with educational experiences.

The Siloam Springs High School band is one of only three bands from Arkansas ever invited to participate in the 123 year history of the Tournament of Roses Parade. We are honored to represent the Great State of Arkansas as we travel to Pasadena California.
